It's a solid product design with one flaw - Apple didn't make it "Snack Proof". You may also see some stuff stuck to the ball itself, you can easily brush or blow that off. Roll the trackball with the mouse upside down on the damp spot on the towel, pushing hard. It worked! Go Here

After reading the posts, here's what I found useful - 99.7% isopropyl alcohol (in my case a "Klean-Kloth" thermal printhead cleaning cloth" and a can of compressed air (like the ones I recommend a spray-like foam for cleaning electrical appliances.
